Shunning: Reasoning With JW's
by The Fall Guy inperhaps this line of questioning could agitate a jw's thinking.
it can't hurt.. you: is shunning a biblical teaching?.
jw: yes.. you: so it must be god's law?.

w83 4/1 p. 24 par. 18 Reject Apostasy, Cling to the Truth!
"Therefore, no loyal modern-day witness of Jehovah (not Christ!) would greet a disfellowshipped or disassociated apostate or allow that one to use his Christian home as a place from which to spread doctrinal error."
That's what Kingdom Halls are for - to spread doctrinal error, but primarily to make money for a U.S. "charity" which doesn't declare its income & expenditure to the suckers who donate.
Isn't "God's earthly organization" a shining example of openness and honesty!!!!!!!

August 2018 Study Watchtower - Some wise words for JW's to consider!
by The Fall Guy indo you have the facts?.
page 3 - as true christians, we need to develop the ability to evaluate information and reach accurate conclusions.. page 4 - it is especially important to avoid (view) websites promoted by apostates.
(awakened jw's) their whole purpose is to tear down (inform) god’s people and to distort (reveal) the truth.

Do You Have the Facts?
Page 3 - AS TRUE Christians, we need to develop the ability to evaluate information and reach accurate conclusions.
Page 4 - It is especially important to avoid (view) websites promoted by apostates. (awakened JW's) Their whole purpose is to tear down (inform) God’s people and to distort (reveal) the truth.
Page 5 - Do not be naive, or gullible. Be sure you have the facts.
Page 6 - Yes, leaning too heavily on our own understanding (instead of the org's) can become a snare. Our emotions and personal ideas could begin to govern our thinking. (heaven forbid!!) We may begin to feel that we can look at a situation and understand it even though we do not have all the facts. (the org's version!)
Generous Givers Are Happy People
Page 22 - Of course, selfless giving, kindness, and generosity can be shown in many ways and in many areas of your Christian life and ministry, with rewarding results. The following article will explore some of these ways and areas.

Perhaps this line of questioning could agitate a JW's thinking. It can't hurt.
YOU: Is shunning a Biblical teaching?
JW: Yes.
YOU: So it must be God's law?
JW: Yes.
YOU: If it's God's law, can it be disregarded by some JW's, but not others?
JW: No, of course not, all Christians must obey God's laws.
YOU: So God's laws don't depend on where a person lives?
JW: Huh????????
YOU: Well, according to your religion, if a JW who lives at home with their parents and siblings gets disfellowshipped, their family association continues as normal. But if that individual later moved into an apartment next door, they would be regarded as if they were dead. Can you show me in the Bible where this discriminatory "law of God" is laid out?

Think about this! All the signs of the last days from Matt.24. That jw's point to, happened in the 1st half of the last century!
by nowwhat? inand now it's 2018 and we are still here.
that's like saying back in 1930 the events of the civil war show we are in the last days!
it has now been that long!.

JW's should take the time to examine Mr. Clarke's 19th century commentary and explanation of the verse by verse fulfilment Matthew 24.
https://www.studylight.org/commentaries/acc/matthew-24.html
Perhaps they will then admit that when Jesus said the great tribulation would not occur again, he must have meant it!

Need advice/opinions about DF Husband who woke up
by Whynot inmy husband was df 3 years ago.
i still attended meetings but not regularly and for the past 10 months i have not attended any at all.
my husband wanted to get reinstated until maybe a few months ago when i started to help him to wake up.

WHYNOT, it sounds very much that you feel as if you are confronted with a "lesser of two evils" choice.
Think in terms of the rest of your lives before you decide which road you choose to go down.
Most of us here now realise that our "loving friends in the truth" - the only "true Christians" on planet earth - were only our friends as long as we subjected ourselves to the cult leaders and their slave-masters.
The best advice I would offer is this; get out into your part of the world and discover new things to do, then you'll find new interests and new friends and acquaintances - sincere people who will actually respect you for being an individual. I wish you both a peaceful journey on your road.

THEY act like the ones who are hurt??!!
by stuckinarut2 init really amazes me when jws act like we are hurting them!.
many of us have found that if we stop associating with them for valid reasons, they act all upset and hurt that we would be "so cruel as to limit our association or cut them off".
i know of friends here on the forum who have been told by parents that they "will shun them if they leave jehovah" , and yet when the shoe is on the other foot and our awake friends shun them first, the parents cry and bemoan the situation and say how "cruel it is to deprive them of their company".

STUCK - "I know of friends here on the forum who have been told by parents that they "will shun them if they leave Jehovah."
I was was once in the home of the Secretary (elder then, not now)) when he warned his 14 year old son that if he ever "left the truth" he would be put out of the house!
Guess what? Both of the ex-elder's children (now early 20's) have since "left the truth," got worldly partners, and are still at home. Wonderful to see that parental love overcame the Borg mentality.

There is No Way Out For Me
by Addison0998 ini have come to the conclusion that there is no way for me to ever leave.
although i have some friends at work, my whole social structure are witnesses.
even if i move congregations, my parents have contacts everywhere who will tell them if i’m not active.
-
The Fall Guy
Addison, just read your heartfelt dilemma, but It's not all as bad as it appears to be.
You have 2 choices by which you can keep your family - either carry on faking it as an active JW, (intolerable!) or, start to fake it as a JW who is having serious spiritual/psychological problems.
Miss field service and meetings at your own pace and become inactive as soon as you can. The latter option - if you perform well - may get you the sympathy vote from family members and friends.

Can a DF person testify at a judicial committee?
by JeffT inthis may be a plot point in a novel i'm working on.
will a judicial committee take testimony from a df'd or da person?
i could see them wanting to get dirt from any possible source, on the other hand i can picture somebody saying "he's df'd everything he says will be a lie.

@ Anders Andersen - "During the JC there is not much fact finding to do other than quizzing the accused to see if they are repentant."
I used to believe this "fact", and actually told non-JW's that only unrepentant sinners got D/F'd. Repentance is a secondary issue in the minds of the kangaroo court.
We now know that the wolves judge if a person's repentance is acceptable - based on whether the individual is "favoured" by the leader/s in the pack.
